A dab over dry hands, left on — no rinsing. It shields the skin so the scrub polishes without stripping.
Already have · Any hand or body lotion you already own.
Make it · 2 tbsp shea butter · 1 tsp coconut oil. Melt fully hot, then chill fast — slow cooling makes shea go grainy.
A teaspoon. Thirty seconds — knuckles, between the fingers, the backs where nobody ever touches. Rinse warm, pat dry.
Already have · Any sugar or salt body scrub.
Make it · ½ cup white sugar · ½ cup brown sugar · 4 tbsp coconut oil · 2 tbsp olive oil · 1 tsp honey. Stir — no melting. Keep water out and it lasts weeks.
A quarter-sized amount, lathered in damp hands first. Upward circles over face and neck, around the eyes but never on the lid.
Already have · Whatever cleanser is already on your shelf. Any cleanser is a cleanser.
Make it · Nothing worth making — cleansers need surfactants you cannot mix at home.
A few drops on damp skin, pressed in. It draws water into the skin — put your moisturizer on within a minute to seal it, or in dry air it pulls moisture the wrong way.
Already have · Any hydrating serum. Look for hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate on the label.
Make it · 4 tbsp rosewater · 1 tsp aloe vera gel · ½ tsp vegetable glycerin. Fridge, two weeks. Glycerin must be diluted.
Pea-sized over face and neck. Press it in with your fingertips rather than rubbing — it absorbs better, and it is a slower movement, which is the point.
Already have · Whatever you already put on at night — or skip this step entirely.
Make it · A serum is delivery chemistry, not a mixture. Nothing honest to make here.
Upward and outward, face and neck, until it disappears. Never drag downward.
Already have · Any moisturizer you own.
Make it · Do not make this one. Creams are oil and water held together, and a homemade one without preservative grows bacteria within days.
Generous. Compounded at a pharmacy with natural ingredients.
Already have · Any lip balm you love.
Make it · 1 tbsp shea butter · 1 tsp coconut oil · ½ tsp beeswax. Melt, pour into a small jar, leave to set.
Hands only, and last of all. Wait until your face is completely finished — otherwise you carry it back onto your skin.
Already have · Any hand cream you love the smell of.
Make it · It is the DIY. Melt raw shea fully hot, chill fast, whip as it sets — that is what makes it scoopable.
after cleansing
A peel-off. Over a thin layer of moisturizer, not bare skin. Thick enough to be opaque, avoiding eyes and lips. Twenty to thirty minutes until dry, then peel slowly downward.
Already have · Any peel-off mask you own.
Make it · Never make a peel-off. Every recipe online is glue or gelatin, and both tear skin.
tonight, instead of 04
Six to eight drops on damp skin, pressed in. Tonight this REPLACES your daily hyaluronic acid — do not use both. Hyaluronic acid layered on hyaluronic acid does nothing; the ceramide is what makes this one different.
Already have · A hydrating serum with ceramides on the label.
Make it · No home version — the ceramide is the point.
before moisturizer
The last step before your cream, never after. One part fatty acids, one part ceramides, three parts cholesterol — your skin’s own ratio.
Already have · The richest cream or facial oil you own. Look for ceramides.
Make it · 1 tbsp shea butter · 1 tsp squalane or jojoba. Warm between your palms and press it in.
after cleansing
On damp skin, never dry. Light circles, thirty seconds, avoiding the eye area. Let the crystals do the work — no pressure.
Already have · Any gentle face scrub, on damp skin.
Make it · 1 tbsp fine caster sugar or 2 tbsp ground oats · 1 tsp honey · 1 tsp oil. Never the hand scrub — too coarse for a face.
after the Refine
A few drops pressed over the areas that shine, straight after the Refine on freshly polished skin. It soothes as much as it refines — Mary Kay classes it as a serum, not a toner.
Already have · A toner, an astringent, or witch hazel on a cotton pad. Look for salicylic acid, niacinamide or witch hazel on the label.
Make it · 1 green tea bag steeped in a cup of boiling water, cooled completely. Keep it in the fridge up to five days and sweep it over your face on a cotton pad.
after cleansing
Barely more than fits on a fingertip, in small circles, then wipe away.
Already have · Any lip scrub you own.
Make it · A pinch of caster sugar with a little oil on a clean fingertip. Caster, not granulated.
before moisturizer
A grain of rice for both eyes. Ring finger only — it is the weakest finger and cannot press too hard. Along the bone, never on the lid.
Already have · Any eye cream, with your ring finger.
Make it · Nothing homemade near the eyes. What works: chill a clean teaspoon and press the back of it under each eye.
after cleansing
On dry skin, an even layer, avoiding eyes and lips. Ten to twenty minutes, or until it feels dry. Rinse warm.
Already have · Any clay or charcoal mask.
Make it · 1 tbsp bentonite or kaolin clay · 1–2 tsp water. Glass bowl only — bentonite reacts with metal.
after cleansing
A generous, opaque layer on clean skin, avoiding the eyes. Five to ten minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Then the rest of the eight, as always.
Already have · Any rich rinse-off mask you own.
Make it · 1 tbsp raw honey · 1 tbsp plain yoghurt. Thick layer, fifteen minutes, rinse warm.
